A single lot of Systane lubricant Eye Drops Ultra PF Single Vials On-the-Go has been pulled from shelves due to possible fungal contamination, prompting a warning from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The recall comes after a consumer reported finding what appeared to be mold inside a sealed single-use vial.Subsequent testing by the FDA confirmed the presence of fungal material.
“if an infection occurs, it might potentially be vision-threatening, and in very rare cases potentially life-threatening in immunocompromised patients,” the FDA warned on its website.The affected eye drops, used to relieve dry eye symptoms, were sold in 25-count on-the-go single vials with lot number 10101 and an expiration date of September 2025.

The FDA urges anyone who purchased the recalled Systane eye drops to promptly discontinue use and discard the product.
