T1 breaks up with ‘Zeus’… LoL strong ‘Jeopeguke’ ends after 1082 days – Dong-A Ilbo
T1 Terminates Contract with Top Laner ‘Zeus‘ Choi Woo-jae
T1 has announced the end of their contract with top laner Choi Woo-jae, known as ‘Zeus’. This decision comes after a successful period where T1 achieved notable victories. The team, often referred to as ‘Geopeguke’, was considered one of the strongest lineups in League of Legends (LoL) history. Their journey lasted 1,082 days, ending on December 3, 2021.
On November 19, T1 confirmed the termination through their official social media channels. Zeus joined T1 as a trainee and played there for four years. He won the LCK Spring in 2022 and led the team to victory in the 2023 and 2024 World Championships, along with his teammates Faker, Kumayushi, and Keria.
While T1’s other players secured contract renewals, Zeus did not renew his contract. Reports indicate that disagreements occurred between Zeus’s agent and T1 during salary discussions.
T1 expressed gratitude to Zeus for his contributions and support during their journey. The organization quickly announced the signing of Choi ‘Doran’ Hyun-jun as Zeus’s replacement. Doran previously led Gen.G to three consecutive LCK wins and recently won the 2024 LCK Summer Championship with Hanwha Life Esports.
As for Choi Woo-jae, his next team has not been confirmed. However, industry sources suggest that he may join Hanwha Life Esports. This marks the end of a significant era in T1’s history.
