Derby, England—The Northamptonshire Steelbacks defeated the Derbyshire Falcons by six runs in a high-scoring T20 match. The Steelbacks,after winning their first two games,faced a Falcons team eager to rebound from an opening loss.
Northamptonshire stumbled early, losing three wickets within the first five overs to find themselves at 24-3. However, captain David Willey and Ravi bopara stabilized the innings with a rapid 75-run partnership. Willey hit three sixes before being caught off martin Andersson’s bowling for 37.
Following Saif Zaib’s dismissal, Bopara accelerated the scoring, supported by Lewis McManus, who contributed 29 runs off 17 balls. The Steelbacks amassed 67 runs in the final four overs, including 24 off the last over bowled by Zak Chappell, with Bopara hitting three sixes and a four.
Derbyshire’s chase began poorly, with Aneurin Donald dismissed for a duck off willey’s bowling.the Falcons quickly fell to 12-2 and then 33-3, losing David Lloyd and wayne Madsen cheaply.
