Taunton, England-Somerset secured a 17-run victory over Hampshire in T20 action, fueled by explosive batting performances. After being put in to bat,Somerset capitalized on a quick start,reaching 70-1 in just 38 balls. Will Smeed played a crucial role,notching his half-century from 29 deliveries.
smeed’s aggressive innings of 68, which included nine fours and three sixes, ended when Eddie Jack dismissed him.Somerset than stood at 116-3. However, Hampshire fought back, claiming quick wickets. Tom Abell, Sean Dickson, and ben Green fell, adding only 11 runs in 17 balls.
Lewis Gregory and Lewis Goldsworthy then combined to shift the momentum. With Somerset at 127-6 and 38 balls remaining, the pair forged an unbeaten T20 club record partnership of 82 for the seventh wicket. Gregory ultimately departed on the final ball for 55 off 27 deliveries. Goldsworthy remained unbeaten with 29 from 16 balls, boosting Somerset to 209-7.
