Taekwondo and Chinese Shaolin Martial Arts Meet at Muju Firefly Festival
[아이뉴스24 박종수 기자] Taekwondo and Shaolin martial arts meet in Muju, Jeollabuk-do, the home of Taekwondo.
This is a special program prepared for the 28th Muju Firefly Festival, and will be held at 5:30 PM on the 31st and September 1st at the Deungnamu Stadium in Muju-eup.
On the 31st, the Muju County Student and Silver Taekwondo Demonstration Team and the China Dengfeng City Shaolin Martial Arts Demonstration Team will perform as pre-opening ceremony performances.
On September 1st, you can watch performances of Jeonju University Taekwondo Demonstration Team ‘Saul Abi’ and Shaolin Martial Arts Team’s Bongsul and Drunken Fist.
The meeting between Taekwondo and Shaolin martial arts began in earnest when Muju-gun, the dream mecca of Taekwondo practitioners around the world, formed a sister city relationship with Dengfeng City in Henan Province, China, the home of Shaolin martial arts.
This year, expectations are high as the ‘Ssaul Abi’ team, which gained worldwide fame after winning the Golden Buzzer on the popular British audition program ‘Britain’s Got Talent’, will be joining the show.
An official from the Muju Firefly Festival said, “The meeting of Taekwondo and Shaolin martial arts will be an opportunity to promote Muju, the holy land of Taekwondo, and to convey the thrill and excitement of Taekwondo to visitors,” adding, “In addition to these performances, we have prepared various Taekwondo performances that you can watch and enjoy together, so don’t miss them.”
