Omaha, Neb. — Gage Wood delivered⁣ a historic performance on Monday, throwing a no-hitter to ‌lead Arkansas past Murray State 3-0 in an elimination game at the⁢ Men’s College World Series.⁢ The dominant outing marked only the third ⁣no-hitter ⁣in the tournament’s history and the first since 1960.

Wood’s bid for a perfect game ended in the eighth inning when he hit Dom Decker with a⁢ breaking ball. Undeterred, he finished the inning strong and completed the no-hitter, ‌racking up a program-record ⁣and MCWS-record 19 strikeouts in nine innings.

The arkansas Razorbacks needed a strong pitching ‍performance, and Wood,a projected first- or second-round ‍MLB Draft pick, exceeded ‌all expectations. His College World ‌Series no-hitter is sure to boost his ⁣MLB Draft stock.
