Jakarta Grapples with Widespread Flooding, Affecting Hundreds of Neighborhoods
Jakarta is facing significant flooding as of Friday, February 20, 2026, with 168 neighborhood units (RT) reported inundated, according to the DKI Jakarta Disaster Management Agency (BPBD). Water levels in some areas have reached 1.5 meters, particularly in Kampung Melayu, East Jakarta.
The BPBD reported that as of 4:00 PM local time, flooding has impacted areas across West Jakarta, South Jakarta, East Jakarta and North Jakarta. South Jakarta is the most severely affected, with 89 RTs underwater.
Authorities are actively monitoring the situation and coordinating with various agencies – including the Water Resources Agency, the Public Works Agency, and the Fire and Rescue Agency – to pump out floodwaters and ensure drainage systems are functioning effectively. Local leaders (lurahs and camats) are also involved in providing basic necessities to those affected.

- Kebon Jeruk: 1 RT, 40 centimeters, due to heavy rainfall.
- Kedoya Selatan: 5 RTs, 80 centimeters, due to heavy rainfall.
- Kembangan Selatan: 3 RTs, 40 centimeters, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Pesanggrahan River.
- Kembangan Utara: 2 RTs, 40 centimeters, due to heavy rainfall.
South Jakarta (89 RTs):
- Cilandak Barat: 1 RT, 30 centimeters, caused by heavy rainfall and overflow from the Krukut River.

Seven roads are also reported to be inundated, including Jl. Pondok Karya in South Jakarta, Jl. Strategi Raya and Jl. Basoka Raya in West Jakarta, Jl. Puri Kembangan in West Jakarta, Jl. Daan Mogot in West Jakarta (at two locations), and Jl. Kali Sekretaris in West Jakarta.
The BPBD reports that some areas have already seen floodwaters recede, including parts of Lebak Bulus, Pesanggrahan, Cilandak Timur, and Kebayoran Lama Utara. Efforts are underway to expedite the draining of affected areas.
