Matthew McConaughey‌ in ​Talks for Mike Hammer Role

Matthew McConaughey is in ‍negotiations to ‌portray Mike Hammer in a Skydance feature film, potentially reuniting him with Nic Pizzolatto, the ‍creator ⁤of True detective. ‍Pizzolatto is penning the script‌ for the ‍film based on the iconic detective.

Skydance secured the rights to ‌the Mike Hammer franchise, created by Mickey Spillane and ‌Max Allan Collins.David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, and Don granger‌ from Skydance will produce alongside Guymon Casady, Benjamin ⁤Forkner, and Ken F. Levin from Entertainment‍ 360.collins will serve as executive producer, with Jane Spillane as co-producer. Carin Sage will oversee for Skydance.

mike Hammer, the protagonist of numerous hardboiled detective novels starting with I, the Jury in ‌1947,‍ is a popular figure in the genre. The series has sold over 250 million copies worldwide, inspiring characters like Dirty Harry, Jack reacher, and ⁤James Bond.

The potential McConaughey and pizzolatto reunion follows the success of True Detective. After ⁢talks of ⁣another season, their focus shifted to the Mike Hammer movies after Pizzolatto presented McConaughey with ⁢the script. The project seeks a high-profile director.

While McConaughey has not appeared in a live-action movie since 2019’s The Gentlemen, he has several projects slated for 2025, including The Rivals of Amziah King, which premiered ‍at SXSW, and Apple’s The ‌Lost ‍Bus, directed by Paul Greengrass.
