Tahnée Seagrave Overcomes Injuries, Finds Confidence with New Bike
Updated May 31, 2025
Tahnée Seagrave is aiming for continued success in downhill mountain biking after a strong season that saw her win a World Cup round in Val di Sole, Italy. This victory followed a challenging period that included a serious concussion sustained in April 2022.
Seagrave said last year was a good season, adding that she had a quiet confidence that she could perform at her best.
After winning the junior World Championship in 2013, Seagrave faced numerous setbacks, including broken bones, muscular tears, and slipped discs. The concussion raised doubts about her future in racing. She turned to sports psychologists and psychiatrists to rebuild her confidence.
“When I had my head trauma, it took a lot of mental work to come back to racing, and I think that kind of changed my perspective on life and on racing,” Seagrave said.
Seagrave has been testing a new Orbea bike at her base in mid-Wales during the off-season, ending a five-year partnership with Canyon. The focus is on creating a fast and effective bike to reach the top.
“We’re just trying to create a fast bike and one that works really well and that can take us to the top step,” Seagrave said.
What’s next
Seagrave will continue testing and refining her new bike in preparation for upcoming competitions, aiming to build on her recent successes and maintain her position at the top of downhill mountain biking.
