Taipei-Shanghai Twin-City Forum to be Held in Taipei on December 17
Taipei adn Shanghai to Convene for 15th Twin-City Forum, Focusing on Smart Governance and Sustainability
Taipei, Taiwan – Taipei and Shanghai will host the 15th Taipei-Shanghai Twin-City Forum on December 17th, bringing together leaders and experts from both cities to discuss key issues facing urban centers in the 21st century.
The forum, themed “Smart Governance, Enduring Future,” will be held at the Regent Taipei hotel and will feature a delegation of approximately 100 individuals from Shanghai.
“[The forum] is expected to continue pleasant interactions, pragmatically promote exchanges, and enhance the well-being of residents in both cities,” a statement on the Taipei City Government website read.
This year’s event will see the signing of memorandums of cooperation in two key areas: “smart medical care” and zoo animal exchanges.
Since its inception in 2010, the Taipei-Shanghai Twin-City Forum has alternated hosting duties annually. Over the past 14 events, a total of 45 agreements have been signed, fostering collaboration and knowledge sharing between the two metropolises.
Taipei City Government Spokesperson Yin Wei highlighted the importance of the upcoming forum,stating that the delegation from Shanghai,led by Vice Mayor Hua Yuan,will engage in crucial exchanges with the Taiwanese side,led by Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an.
The main event will be complemented by three sub-forums focusing on “amiable transportation,” ”river governance,” and “cities of culture,” providing a platform for in-depth discussions on specific areas of mutual interest.
