Taitao II Stable Dominates Rodeo Clasificatorio Zona Centro in San Clemente

San Clemente, Chile – March 9, 2025 – The Taitao II stable celebrated a double victory at the Clasificatorio Zona Centro rodeo held in San Clemente this weekend. Father and son, Diego Pacheco Álvarez and Diego Pacheco Meza, both earned awards in the same series (Segunda Libre B), securing their spots to compete in Rancagua representing the Taitao II stable, though with different collera pairings.

Diego Pacheco Meza (son) emerged as the winner of this series alongside Sebastián Caro (Colchagua and Aguanegra Associations), riding Buen Vecino and Huimpalay, achieving 30 points (12+6+12). Their performance, marked by a strong start and finish, drew applause from the crowd at the Fernando Hurtado Echenique medialuna.

Diego Pacheco Álvarez (father) secured fourth place with Emiliano Ruiz (Colchagua and Santiago Oriente Associations), earning 22 points (11+7+4) while riding Safira and Estelita.

Speaking to CaballoyRodeo.cl, Pacheco Meza expressed his joy, stating, “Winning with my father in the same series has a special flavor. I’m happy that they also earned a prize with the stable’s prized mares, so I’m happy on all fronts. Now we just need my brother (Juan Ignacio) to qualify and we’ll be ready.”

Pacheco Álvarez echoed his son’s sentiments, saying, “It was very emotional. First, because Diego Jr. Qualified, which is a huge joy, and then we were able to compete with the mares. This Clasificatorio is very difficult, tight, and complicated, with very good riders.”

Claudio Bustos and Raúl Contesse (Talca Oriente Association) took second place with 28 points (9+11+8) riding Loicas de Villa Alegre Campo Lindo and Rulo y Medio Mestizo. Francisco Becerra and Simón Cornejo (Ñuble Association) representing Criadero Ramaihueco finished third, earning 22 points (7+8+7) on Estrella and Costurera.

The Clasificatorio Zona Centro, held before an audience of approximately 2,500 people, saw Diego Pacheco and Roberto Pavez (Colchagua Association) previously crowned champions of the Serie de Campeones on March 8, 2025. Riding Carpintero and Nicodemo, the Colchagua collera secured their direct qualification to the Campeonato Nacional de Rodeo final, scheduled to take place between April 9 and April 13 at the Medialuna Monumental Gonzalo Vial Vial in Rancagua.

Pavez commented after their win, “This Clasificatorio was tough. We did things right and found ourselves in first place, so we’re happy. It was a beautiful, very competitive Clasificatorio, and that was reflected in the results. Now we need to prepare for the Campeonato Nacional.”

Pacheco added, “It was unexpected. It was difficult to qualify, but we were able to do it in the Free Series. I feel a great joy in achieving these two first places in this competitive Clasificatorio. I’ve never had the opportunity to obtain first and second place in a Clasificatorio before, so I’m very happy. Now, we need to prepare for the Campeonato Nacional de Rodeo.”
