Taipei, Taiwan – Zheng Mingzong, Director of the Resilience Building Department at Taiwan’s Ministry of Digital Development, issued a public apology on December 4th following accusations of bullying behaviour towards subordinates.
The controversy erupted during a Transportation Committee meeting at the Legislative Yuan, where Kuomintang lawmaker Xu Qiaoxin presented screenshots of group chat conversations allegedly showing Zheng using abusive language adn insults towards colleagues.
The screenshots, which quickly circulated online, depicted Zheng repeatedly using derogatory terms like “bastard” and “asshole” when addressing his team.
“Did you explain the changing instructions to me, ass?” and “Ashole, where was I at 11 o’clock?” were among the messages cited by Xu.Responding to the allegations, Zheng expressed remorse, stating, “This incident has damaged the image of the Ministry of Digital Development, and I am truly sorry. I will think deeply about myself and accept the ongoing internal inquiry.”
Minister of Digital Development Huang Yanan confirmed that an internal investigation is underway and promised to release a report on December 11th.
