Taiwan Railway‘s Fengming Temporary General Station Opens
On November 30, 2024, Taiwan Railway officially opened the Fengming Temporary General Station. This new station allows easier transfers to nearby Taiwan Railway services, shortening travel times to Inge and Taoyuan.
Fengming Station is part of the “Taoyuan Railway Underground Plan.” Although the plan for a permanent station does not expect completion until 2012, a temporary unmanned station was built to meet local demands.
Transportation Minister Chen Shikai, along with local officials, participated in the opening ceremony. During his speech, he emphasized the station’s role in improving transportation and stimulating local economic growth.
Fengming Station features two platforms, lifts, and stairs, while also accepting non-standard tickets. The station is expected to be replaced by a permanent facility in the future.
New Taipei City Vice Mayor Liu Heran expressed the desire to retain some facilities for community use. Legislator Su Qiaohui highlighted that residents had awaited this station for nearly 20 years. This year, the government allocated NT$610 million to address engineering issues and better serve the local population of 30,000.
Local resident Mr. He, who visited the station with his mother, expressed happiness about the opening. He believes the station will benefit commuters and enhance seniors’ lifestyles.
Municipal Transportation Director Zhong Mingshi announced plans for parking spaces and bike rental stations near the station. The goal is to create a friendly environment for public transport users. Temporary parking and pick-up spaces are also available around the station.
