Taiwan Stocks Plummet: A 500-Point Free Fall and a 271-Point Blow to Investors

Taiwan stocks opened lower today (29th) by 149.62 points and opened at 23,048.45 points then the index continued to decline, once down nearly 500 points during the session. It ended at 22,926.59 points, down 271.48 points or 1.17%, with a trading volume of 341.787 billion yuan. Finally, TSMC (2330) closed down 10 yuan at 1,040 yuan.

Equity stocks are generally weak today! In electronics, Hon Hai (2317) fell 5.5 yuan to close at 1,300 yuan, Quanta (2382) fell 303 yuan to 303 yuan; It closed at 406 yuan, a small increase of 1 yuan;

In finance, Fubon Gold (2881) closed down 0.3 yuan at 91.6 yuan; CITIC Gold (2891) fell 0.05 yuan to 0.3 yuan.

Today’s top 10 stocks by trading volume are Hon Hai, UMC, Shin Kong Gold, Jinqiao, Jiahe, Innolux, Nuvoton, Kai Fund, Hongzhun, and TSMC. Also, the top five stocks that rose today are Ende, Meirong Electric, Zhaipin, Danone, and World Fitness-KY which are Chengjin Industrial*-Chuang, Tianwu, Lianchang, Tongtai and Longhua.
