Taiwan’s Gaming Scene Heats Up: Switch 2 Takes the Lead with Record-Breaking Scores
Nintendo Switch 2: A Major Upgrade with Enhanced Performance
After an eight-year hiatus, the Nintendo Switch is set to receive a significant upgrade, and the supply chain is abuzz with excitement. Leaked images of the new console have surfaced, revealing a host of improvements, including a memory upgrade from 4GB to 12GB, an additional Type-C interface, magnetic Joy-Con, and an 8-inch large screen.
Enhanced Hardware and Performance
The Switch 2’s specifications have been fully updated, with a customized NVIDIA T239 processor, a larger 1080P resolution screen, and two 6GB LPDDR5 memory modules. The console will also feature 256GB UFS 3.1 storage space, providing ample room for games and apps. An additional USB-C port on the top of the host will enable users to connect more external devices and expand the console’s functionality.
Improved Player Experience
The new Joy-Con design features a magnetic attachment, providing a more secure and comfortable gaming experience. The addition of a USB-C port will also enable the connection of motion sensors, enhancing the overall gaming experience. Original Phase’s MOT (Multiple Target Tracking) technology will utilize dynamic optical sensing to capture users’ actions, simulating in-game movements.
Taiwanese Supply Chain to Benefit
The Taiwanese supply chain, including companies such as Hon Hai, Macronix, and Hongjun, is expected to benefit from the console’s production. Integrated circuit companies, including Realtek, Original Phase, and Chuangxi, will also see increased demand for their products.
Increased Type-C Interfaces
The addition of Type-C interfaces is expected to boost shipments for companies like Chuangxius. The company has already seen a return to growth in February this year, with a net earnings per share (EPS) of 0.31 yuan in August. The increased adoption of USB-C interfaces, which will become the standard for mobile phones and laptops in the EU, will further drive growth.
Genesys Acquires New Projects
Genesys has acquired new projects from major customers in the third quarter, with different products and a better gross profit margin than average. The company’s PD chip has been included in the new USB4 specification, and Chuangwei continues to work on Redriver and HUB-related products.
