JAKARTA – The⁢ Port of Tanjung Priok in north Jakarta experienced notable traffic disruptions thursday,‍ with vehicle queues stretching ⁢and stagnating.

System Glitch and Holiday Rush ⁣Blamed for Delays

According to Fransiscus, a local⁤ goods delivery ‍service entrepreneur, the ⁤congestion⁤ began ⁣Wednesday. He attributed the severe delays to a malfunctioning ⁤system at the‍ port entrance, which caused extensive backups.

“the problem stems from ⁣an error⁢ in the port entrance system,” fransiscus told reporters. “When vehicles attempt to enter and ⁢present their identification or entrance cards, the system fails to read ‍them. The resulting delays have created a long queue.”

Port officials confirmed ⁤the congestion, citing a buildup around the Jakarta ⁤International container terminal (JICT) and‌ the New Priok Container Terminal One (NPCT1).

He added, “We are working ⁣to maintain operational efficiency and ensure uninterrupted service to our customers despite⁣ the increased ‌logistics ⁣volume. We are also coordinating ⁤with the ⁤police to ⁤alleviate congestion at key points⁢ around the Port of Tanjung Priok.”

Data⁢ indicates a ⁢near 100% increase in truck‍ traffic entering the terminal. The average daily ⁢volume of less than 2,500 ⁢trucks⁢ surged to over 4,000 trucks heading to NPCT 1.

Jasa Marga Implements Traffic⁤ Diversions

To ‍mitigate‍ the ⁤congestion, PT Jasa Marga (Persero)⁤ Tbk (JSMR) implemented traffic diversions.jasamarga Metropolitan Tollroad (JMT), in conjunction with⁣ the police, managed traffic flow ‌on the⁢ Sedyatmo toll road in Jakarta.

According to Jasa Marga, traffic was ‍diverted at KM 28 on the sedyatmo Toll ⁣road at the discretion of the police.
