The diagnoses melanomathe most serious skin cancer, have increased significantly over the past forty years. “This increase has disproportionately affected young women, the tanning industry’s main customers”report American scientists in a study once again showing the danger of tanning beds. These researchers at Northwestern University in Chicago and the University of California, San Francisco, consulted the medical records of some 6,000 patients followed in a dermatology department, half of whom declared having used sunbeds. Researchers publish their findings in the journal Science Advances Friday.
