Inter Milan forward Mahdi Taremi will be absent from the Club World Cup in the U.S. The Iran international is currently stuck in Tehran because of the ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel.
Following military strikes between the two nations, all flights from Iranian airports have been suspended. Taremi was scheduled to fly to Los angeles on Saturday to join his Inter teammates. He recently played in Iran’s World Cup qualifying victory against North Korea.
The 32-year-old Taremi will miss Inter’s opening match against Monterrey on Wednesday. Italian media outlets report that he is unlikely to participate in any of the othre games, even if Iranian airspace is reopened.
