Daniel Taro⁣ Wins Taipei OEC Open

Second ‍seed Daniel Taro defeated No. 3 seed Alan Walton (Australia)⁤ in straight sets 6-4, 7-5, winning the Challenger Tournament‌ for‌ the ‍first time this season and securing his ninth ⁤title in about a year.

Daniel, who is ‍31 years old and ranked 89th in the world, had a strong run in the tournament. He faced Ayeni (USA) who is ranked ⁣498th in the world in the first ⁢round, B. Paire (France) who is ranked⁤ 281st in the second​ round, and 5th seed Wong Coleman (Hong‍ Kong) in the​ quarterfinals. He then defeated 4th seed Tseng Chun-hsing ⁢(Taiwan) ⁢in the semifinals to advance to the final.

In the final match against Walton, who is 25 years old and ranked 103rd in the ‌world,‌ Daniel made ⁣11 aces and won ⁢points ⁣on his first serve with an 80% probability. After limiting ⁣his opponent to one break, ⁣he got three breaks⁣ in the ⁢return‍ game and won​ the heated battle that lasted⁤ 1 hour and 53 minutes.

This is the⁣ first time this season that Daniel has won a ‌challenger tournament. It was his ‍ninth title in total, the first in about a ​year since the NSW Open (Australia/Sydney, Hard, ATP Challenger) held in early November last year.
