According to online court records viewed by Us Weekly, Tate Paul filed a motion for reconsideration on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, within the framework of their 2022 divorce case. The 32-year-old submitted several exhibits alongside the request, including text messages and call logs involving members of Taylor Frankie Paul’s immediate family. Page Six initially reported that Tate also sought sole custody of their children, Indy, 8, and Ocean, 6.

The initial request for a temporary restraining order, filed on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, was denied by the court the following day. According to court documents obtained by Us Weekly, the judge noted that many of the supporting allegations relied on inadmissible hearsay without corroborating evidence. The court ruling stated, The court cannot find an immediate and irreparable harm as contemplated by Rule 65A, and the motion is denied.

Court documents further noted that Taylor Frankie Paul pointed out that Tate left their children in her care from June 11 through June 17, 2026, while he traveled to Iceland. The court observed that concerns regarding the children’s sadness or academic performance require ongoing attention rather than an emergency custody modification.

The legal maneuvers coincide with a brief stay in an inpatient treatment facility by Taylor Frankie Paul. According to Us Weekly, a source stated that she has since been cleared and departed the facility.

Tate Paul’s submitted exhibits reportedly include text messages where Taylor allegedly failed to disclose reasons for receiving inpatient treatment. Other texts allegedly show Taylor admitting that she stops assaulting another ex-partner, Dakota Mortensen, when he records their interactions. Mortensen and Taylor Frankie Paul share a two-year-old son, Ever, and have been navigating a separate, volatile custody battle following their autumn 2024 separation and subsequent police involvement regarding protective orders.

An insider close to Taylor alleged to TMZ that Tate’s restraining order filing is a direct result of Mortensen telling Tate untruths about her. Despite the mounting legal friction, Taylor previously expressed positive sentiments regarding her coparenting arrangement with Tate in a March 2026 interview with Us Weekly, describing him as a good friend and noting a healthy dynamic between them. Attorneys for both Tate and Taylor have been reached for comment regarding the latest court motions.
