John Tavares is staying in toronto. The veteran center inked a four-year contract extension with the Maple Leafs, the team announced Friday. The deal carries an average annual value of $4.38 million.

“Obviously left some money out there,” Tavares said during a media call. He added that he has ”done pretty well” and values playing for a strong team in his hometown with a genuine chance to win.
