Tax administrations of Togo and Burkina Faso towards strengthening the partnership – Togotimes
Between the tax administrations of Togo and Burkina Faso, the strengthening of the partnership can be seen. On November 5, there was a meeting with the Commissioner General of the Togolese Revenue Office (OTR), Philippe Tchodie and Eliane Djiguemde-Ouedraogo, Director of Taxes of Burkina Faso, who is also the current President of the Council of the Forum of Western Tax Administrations. FAFOA). Ms Eliane Djiguemde-Ouedraogo was visiting Lomé.
This visit is part of the continuation of efforts aimed at strengthening regional cooperation and harmonizing tax policies in West Africa, while consolidating FAFOA’s role as an essential platform for sharing good practices and experiences in the tax field.
The meeting was an opportunity for both sides to explore the possibilities of support from the OTR in order to support Burkina Faso on some of its strategic projects. Another point discussed, reviving the FAFOA and tax harmonization in the sub-region. The objective is to optimize tax mechanisms by sharing expertise and adopting best practices.
According to Philippe Kokou TCHODIE, Commissioner General of the OTR, “No country can be self-sufficient in the context of the globalization of tax systems”
Made up of 15 countries including Togo, FAFOA (WATAF in English) contributes to improving the quality of tax administrations in its member countries. It also works to improve the provision of public services in West African countries.
