Taxi Terror: Foreign Passenger’s Shocking Assault on Driver Sparks Police Manhunt
Foreign Passenger Assaults Taxi Driver in Gyeonggi Province
A disturbing incident occurred in Gyeonggi Province, where a drunk foreign passenger assaulted a taxi driver and fled the scene.
According to eyewitnesses, the incident took place near Dongducheon City Hall on a weekend morning. A man, who appeared to be intoxicated, approached the taxi driver and began to protest. The situation quickly escalated, and the passenger assaulted the driver before running away.
The taxi driver, Mr. Kwon, who is in his 70s, suffered serious injuries, including a lacerated scalp and a broken cheekbone. He was forced to take a break from his job as a result of the incident.
Mr. Kwon recounted the events leading up to the assault, stating that he had asked the passenger to pay the taxi fare, but the passenger refused. When Mr. Kwon asked again, the passenger became violent and attacked him.
“I told him to pay the taxi fare, but he didn’t. He just got out of the taxi and ran away. I followed him and asked him to pay, but he hit me instead,” Mr. Kwon said.
The police are currently investigating the incident and are working to identify the foreign passenger. However, they are facing difficulties due to the passenger’s use of an overseas credit card, which is making it challenging to track him down.
Despite the challenges, the police are determined to catch the perpetrator and are reviewing CCTV footage and confirming the identities of the passengers.
This incident highlights the importance of ensuring the safety of taxi drivers and the need for stricter measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
