Taylor Swift is celebrating another chart-topping success as her song “Opalite” has reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The achievement marks Swift’s 14th number one hit, and she commemorated the occasion on Monday, February 23, with a behind-the-scenes look at the making of the song and its music video.
The singer shared a six-slide carousel on Instagram featuring never-before-seen footage from the recording studio and the “Opalite” music video set. One clip shows Swift playfully joking about feeling “so [herself]” while sporting a denim outfit – jeans and a vest paired with a multicolored striped shirt – that fans will recognize from an awkward couple’s photoshoot in the video. Actor Domhnall Gleeson appears in the scene, with Scottish singer-songwriter Lewis Capaldi serving as the photographer.
Swift emphasized the collaborative nature of the song’s success, highlighting the contributions of co-writers and producers Max Martin and Shellback. The Instagram post includes videos of the producers making adjustments to the track in the studio and jamming along as Swift sings. A final slide shows the three collaborators toasting with champagne flutes.
“Opalite” is the second single from Swift’s 2025 album, The Life of a Showgirl, to reach the top spot on the Hot 100, joining “The Fate of Ophelia.” According to Swift’s Instagram caption, this is the first time she’s had two number one hits from a single album since her 2014 release, 1989.
“I know that’s a lot of numbers but it all adds up to me being so thankful to the fans who helped make this happen by welcoming this song into your lives with open arms,” Swift wrote in the post.
With “Opalite” reaching number one, Swift ties Rihanna for the third-most Hot 100 number one hits, trailing only The Beatles (20) and Mariah Carey (19). She also currently holds the record for the most number one songs on the Hot 100 this decade, with nine.
In a lighthearted nod to the music video, Swift concluded her post by saying she “might go buy a giant pretzel at the mall to celebrate, iykyk.”
