Taylor Swift has announced she once again owns her entire body of work. In a statement posted on her website Friday, Swift saeid, “All of the music I’ve ever made now belongs to me.” This marks a significant victory in her long-standing effort to control her music.
The pop star repurchased her catalog of recordings, initially released through Big Machine Records, from Shamrock Capital. The financial terms of the deal were not disclosed. This acquisition follows swift’s years-long project of rerecording her first six albums, dubbed “Taylor’s Version,” to regain ownership.
Addressing her fans, Swift expressed her gratitude: “I can’t thank you enough for helping to reunite me with this art that I have dedicated my life to, but have never owned until now. The best things that have ever been mine … finally actually are.”
