Taylor Swift is set to release the music video for “Opalite” this Friday, February 6th, at 8 a.m. Eastern Time. The release will be staggered, beginning with exclusive availability on Apple Music and Spotify Premium before becoming accessible on YouTube on Sunday, February 8th, at 8 a.m. ET.

“Opalite” is the second single from Swift’s album, The Life of a Showgirl, which debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart in October and remained there for twelve weeks. The album moved a record-breaking 4.002 million equivalent album units in its first week of release, according to Luminate.

The announcement, made on Swift’s website, features a countdown clock signaling the impending release. This strategy of a phased rollout mirrors the release of the music video for “The Fate of Ophelia,” the lead single from The Life of a Showgirl, which premiered in movie theaters before appearing on YouTube.

The decision to initially release the video on streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music comes after YouTube’s recent withdrawal of its streaming data from Billboard’s charts. This move by YouTube followed Billboard’s changes to its charting methodology.

Fans can also purchase a 7-inch vinyl single of “Opalite,” currently available for $10.99 on Swift’s official store. The vinyl, featuring the main track on Side A and an acoustic version of “Life Is a Song” on Side B, is limited to one per customer and currently available only to U.S. Customers, with shipping expected around February 9th.

“Opalite” initially debuted at No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100, following “The Fate of Ophelia’s” chart-topping success. As of the latest tally, “Opalite” remains a chart mainstay, holding the No. 10 position after 17 weeks. The song is currently ranked as the 37th most-streamed song released in 2025 on Spotify.

The release of the “Opalite” music video continues Swift’s innovative approach to releasing content from The Life of a Showgirl. The album’s success has also significantly impacted industry charts, powering Republic Records to a new high in year-end 2025 market share. Swift’s “Wildest Dreams” video recently joined YouTube’s billion views club, further cementing her influence on the music landscape.

It remains to be seen whether the “Opalite” music video will be the same version shown during the album’s theatrical release party or a different cut. The anticipation surrounding the video highlights Swift’s continued ability to generate excitement and engagement with her fanbase.

Swift recently made an appearance at a private Grammys party this past weekend, signaling her continued presence in the industry spotlight as she continues to promote The Life of a Showgirl and its accompanying visuals.
