Taylor Swift continues her reign over the UK charts with the unprecedented success of her latest releases. ‘The Fate of Ophelia’ registered the largest first-week sales of 2025, selling 132,000 units and marking the highest first-week sales of Swift’s career.
Dominating the Charts
Previously, ‘Anti-Hero’ from her 2022 album ‘Midnights’ held the record for Swift’s longest-running Number One, spending six consecutive weeks at the top. With ‘Anti-Hero’, she also became the first woman as Miley Cyrus in 2013 to concurrently top both the albums and singles charts. The track also enjoyed 15 non-consecutive weeks within the top 10.
In total, Swift has topped the UK chart with five different tracks: ‘Look What You Made Me Do’ (2017, two weeks at Number One), ‘Anti-Hero’ (2022), ‘Is It Over Now? (Taylor’s Version)’ (2023), ‘Fortnight’ (2024, one week), and now ’The Fate of Ophelia’.

Christmas Number One Contention
The Official Charts has identified Swift as a strong contender for the coveted Christmas Number One of 2025.Three of her songs – ‘The Fate of Ophelia’, ‘Opalite’, and ‘Olivia Taylor’ – are currently charting.
Other potential contenders include Olivia Dean with ‘The Christmas Song’, Labyrinth with ‘Where Love Lives’ (featured in the 2025 John Lewis Christmas ad), McFly’s Tom Fletcher with ‘One Of Us’ from Paddington: The Musical, and Raye with ‘Where Is My Husband!’, currently at Number Two after 11 weeks in the chart.
Classic festive tracks from Wham! (‘Last Christmas’) and Mariah Carey (‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’) are also in the running, currently holding the Number Three and Four positions respectively. ’Last Christmas’ has claimed the Christmas Number One spot for the past two years.

The film captures her final performance of the ‘Eras Tour’ at BC Place stadium in Vancouver, Canada, last December, and includes the complete setlist from her ‘Tortured poets Department’ album.
