- TCR South America: Oberá Replaces posadas for Upcoming Race
BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – The second round of the TCR south America series, scheduled for next week, has been moved from Posadas to Oberá due to ongoing construction at the Posadas circuit, organizers announced.
Extensive work had been underway at the Posadas track in anticipation of hosting a TCR event in 2025. However, with the construction site still active and less than two weeks remaining before the race, TCR South America officials decided to relocate the event approximately 100 kilometers east to the Autódromo Ciudad de Oberá.
The Oberá circuit, also located in the Misiones province, has previously hosted races in other series, including TC2000, Formula Renault 2.0, and Turismo Nacional Argentine.
Federico Punteri, president of TCR South America, acknowledged the efforts to complete the Posadas circuit in time. “All the collaborators made the utmost effort to conclude the work; however, to do it in the best way, there was not enough time,” Punteri said in a statement. “The motoring in Misiones is unique, so we decided to go to Oberá.”
Punteri added, “We had a complete calendar from the beginning of the year to make everything predictable with our drivers, teams, sponsors, and public. Unfortunately, in this case, we had to make a change, but I’m sure it will be one of the best races of the year. It is worth highlighting all the work done in Misiones, keeping the category within the province.”
