In january 2021, 60 Minutes aired a misleading segment fueling moral panic about Section 230. Concurrently, Parler attempted to gain attention by claiming it didn’t need the same protections. In a surprising move, Ajit Pai refused to pursue Trump’s attack on section 230 during his final weeks in office. Consumers complained about Comcast’s increased data caps, while AT&T reinstated its own caps after a temporary COVID-19 suspension. Though, the most meaningful event was the January 6th attack on the capitol building, an event we covered extensively, and which ultimately led to Twitter banning donald Trump from its platform.
