Ted Danson Reveals Hilarious Mix-Up with Tony Danza on The Jennifer Hudson Show

Ted Danson, known for his role in Cheers, revealed on The Jennifer Hudson Show that he is often confused with Tony Danza, despite their different appearances. Danson said this mix-up lasted for about five years.

He shared a story where construction workers in New York called out to him, thinking he was Danza. Danson noted their similar names likely contribute to the confusion. He jokingly recounted how he once signed an autograph using Danza’s name.

Danson played bartender Sam Malone on Cheers, which aired from 1982 to 1993. In contrast, Danza starred in Who’s the Boss? as Tony Micelli, a former ballplayer, from 1984 to 1992.

Danson has continued his acting career with roles in other shows like CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, The Good Place, and Mr. Mayor. He is currently starring in the Netflix series A Man on the Inside. In this show, Danson plays an elderly man assisting a private investigator in a nursing home case involving suspected elder abuse.

Series creator Mike Schur praised the idea of casting Danson, calling it a natural fit.
