16-Year-Old Bicyclist Killed in Possible Road Rage Incident

A 16-year-old bicyclist was killed by a car in the parking lot of BMO Stadium in Los Angeles on Friday. The collision happened around 4:36 p.m., according to California Highway Patrol Officer Sergio Garcia.

About 40 bicyclists were riding south on Figueroa Street when they entered the closed parking lot of the stadium. A sedan followed them inside, accelerated toward the group, and struck the victim before speeding away.

Witnesses reported a verbal confrontation between the cyclist and the driver before the incident. “It’s a tragic incident and 100% preventable,” said CHP Sgt. Dan Kene. He spoke to reporters at the scene.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. The CHP is seeking information from witnesses and urges the driver to come forward. “No parent should have to go through that,” Kene added.
