PORTLAND,ore. – ⁣A ‌teenage boy lost his life in a tragic rollover crash in north Portland on‌ Saturday night, and police ⁣are investigating whether ⁢the incident was⁣ linked to a ‌street takeover event.the crash occurred‌ around 10:30 p.m.at the intersection of North Marine Drive⁣ and North Leadbetter Road. Responding officers found the driver, who police say was participating in a street takeover with other drivers and spectators,⁣ at the scene. The ⁢driver remained and cooperated with authorities.

Police have not released ​the⁤ teenager’s age, only confirming he was a minor.

this incident has reignited concerns about the dangers‌ of street takeovers ‌in Portland. Residents living near Marine Drive have expressed their worries​ about the‌ frequency of these events and the potential for ‍tragedy.

“I don’t‍ live far from here and I think⁤ there’s been ⁢at least four deaths along ⁤Marine Drive,” said‌ PJ, a​ concerned neighbor, in⁤ a previous interview ⁣with FOX 12. “Are we‍ going to‌ regulate it? Are we going to put a light⁢ in here?” ​added Travis, another‍ resident.

While some witnesses remained at the scene,⁢ police believe‍ others may‌ have left before officers arrived.⁤ The Portland Police Bureau⁤ (PPB) is urging ‍anyone with‍ facts about the crash to ‍come forward.
