The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office has released the autopsy report for Celeste Rivas Hernandez, the 14-year-old girl whose dismembered remains were found in the trunk of singer D4vd’s Tesla in September 2025, confirming she died from “multiple penetrating injuries caused by object(s)” and ruling her death a homicide.

The report, made public on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, after months of delay due to a police-issued security hold, states that Celeste’s body showed two penetrating wounds to her torso that may represent sharp force injuries, including one to her right abdomen involving liver trauma and another to her left chest. Her remains weighed just 71 pounds when discovered in the front trunk of the abandoned vehicle at a Hollywood tow lot on September 8, 2025 — one day after she would have turned 15.

D4vd, whose real name is David Anthony Burke, was charged on Monday, April 20, 2026, with first-degree murder, continuous sexual abuse, and mutilation of human remains in connection with Celeste’s disappearance and death. The 21-year-old singer has pleaded not guilty and is being held without bail. His legal team has stated they will “vigorously defend his innocence,” asserting that the evidence will show he did not cause her death.

Prosecutors allege that Celeste was killed and her body dismembered on or around May 5, 2025 — more than four months before her remains were discovered. She was reported missing over a year prior to the discovery of her body. The Los Angeles County Chief Medical Examiner, Dr. Odey Ukpo, said in a statement accompanying the report’s release that it was “unfathomable” that Celeste’s family had to wait so long to learn the cause and manner of her death, adding that he was “grateful this information can now be released” to the public and to her grieving family.

The case has drawn significant attention due to D4vd’s rising profile as a musician, including his performance at the 2025 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. His attorneys have maintained that the defense will rely on the actual evidence to demonstrate his non-involvement in the crime. Burke is scheduled to return to Los Angeles court on Thursday, April 23, 2026, at 08:30 local time for further proceedings.

The Medical Examiner’s Office emphasized that the release of the autopsy findings serves not only transparency but also broader goals of community awareness and prevention, stating that making such information publicly available strengthens the ability to learn from tragic cases and take informed action to reduce future harm.
