Teenager Sentenced for ISIS Membership in Vienna, linked to Foiled Taylor Swift Concert attack Plot
VIENNA – A teenage freind of the primary suspect in a foiled plot to attack a Taylor Swift concert in Vienna last year has been sentenced to two years in prison for membership in the Islamic state (ISIS). The sentencing, which took place on July 25, was confirmed by the teenager’s lawyer and a court official.
ISIS Membership and Online Activities Led to Conviction
the 18-year-old,identified as luca K,was convicted for belonging to a terrorist and criminal association, according to a spokesperson for the court in Wiener neustadt, located near Vienna. Investigations revealed that Luca K had shared material from the militant group online and had publicly praised a jihadist gunman responsible for a deadly attack in Vienna in 2020, local media reported.
Luca K pleaded guilty to the charges and has reportedly renounced Islamist ideology, his lawyer, Michael Dohr, informed reporters outside the court.
Connection to Alleged Concert Attack Plot
Luca K was arrested on the same day as Beran A, the 20-year-old identified as the chief suspect in the alleged plot to target the US singer’s concert last August. Both individuals have been in custody since thier arrests.
While Luca K’s lawyer confirmed his client had a summer job involved in building the stage for Swift’s concerts, he stressed that Luca K was not linked to the planned attack. “There is absolutely no evidence that he was involved in the attack plans,” Mr.Dohr was quoted as saying by the APA news agency. He also downplayed the nature of the friendship between the two, stating they were merely part of the same social circle.
