Dokkum, IA – A Friday morning shoplifting spree in Dokkum ended with a dramatic bus stop and the apprehension of four teenagers.
Police were alerted to the theft at a store on Zuiderschans around 10:43 a.m. Officers quickly located three of the suspects attempting to flee the scene via public transportation. Thinking fast, police officers signaled a passing bus to pull over at the intersection of Rondweg West and Parklaan, where they apprehended the trio.
“We received a report of a shoplifting incident shortly before 10:45 a.m.,” explained police spokesperson Sven Nijenhuis. “We were able to apprehend four individuals in connection with the theft. One suspect was taken into custody on the street, while the other three were located on a bus that was stopped by a colleague.”
The fourth suspect, a 19-year-old man from Hurdegaryp, was apprehended on the street. The other suspects include minors from Groningen, Feanwalden, and Leeuwarden.
Authorities are currently withholding details about the stolen items as the examination continues.
