Tegan Nox Reveals WWE Absence: Creative Decision, Not Health

‍ Updated June 10, 2025

Nixon Newell, known to⁢ WWE fans as Tegan Nox, has shed light on her absence from WWE programming in teh latter half of 2024.Speaking on the “Wrestling ‍in the Middle” podcast,Newell clarified that while she experienced health issues, she was medically cleared to compete throughout her time away ‍from ⁤television.

Newell explained that her ⁢disappearance from WWE after a dark match in July 2024 stemmed from creative choices, not⁣ a medical setback. This revelation counters fan speculation that an injury or illness kept her sidelined.

“I ⁢was sick during it,but⁢ it wasn’t a sickness where I couldn’t wrestle,” Newell said. “I was cleared. I was entirely cleared. Everyone knew I was cleared.” She specified that she had stomach issues that sometimes prevented ⁣her from keeping food or liquids down. Despite this, she wrestled in dark matches while sick, indicating her availability.

The former WWE star’s comments suggest that the lack of creative‍ plans, not physical limitations, kept her off television. “It wasn’t like you can’t wrestle. It was just⁤ they didn’t ‍book me, unluckily,” Newell stated.

this explanation adds a layer of disappointment to Newell’s final months with WWE. Her momentum from an early 2024 program with Natalya stalled abruptly. After that storyline ended without⁣ explanation, Newell was relegated to dark matches before⁢ being removed from television, despite being ready to perform. WWE released ⁣Newell from her contract on Nov. 1,2024.

“This is the thing. I⁤ was sick during it, but it wasn’t a sickness where I couldn’t wrestle,” Newell said. ⁤“I was cleared. I was completely cleared. Everyone knew I was cleared.”

What’s next

Newell is expected to continue her wrestling ‍career in the independent circuit, with ⁤fans eagerly awaiting her next move.
