In his first public remarks following a ceasefire between Iran and Israel, Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei congratulated Iranians over what he termed “victory over the fallacious Zionist regime” as well as the U.S. He further discussed U.S. strikes against Iranian nuclear facilities, claiming: “They failed to achieve their intended goal and they exaggerate things to cover up and conceal the truth”. Khamenei also characterised Iran’s missile strikes against a U.S. base in Qatar as “a major event”, adding: “The fact that the Islamic Republic has access to key U.S. centers in the region and can take action whenever it deems necessary is a significant matter… Such an action can be repeated in the future too. Should any aggression occur, the enemy – the aggressor – will definitely pay a heavy price”.
