Hyderabad, Telangana – telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has asserted that former Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) doesn’t require imprisonment, stating his current confinement to his Erravalli farmhouse effectively mirrors the conditions of Cherlapalli Central Prison.
The remarks came during an informal interaction with the media in New Delhi on Thursday, August 7th, responding to questions about the possibility of KCR’s arrest. reddy’s comments signal a shift away from punitive measures and towards continued scrutiny of the former leader’s activities.
Farmhouse as a Form of Supervision
Reddy drew a parallel between the security measures at KCR’s farmhouse and those within a correctional facility. He explained that, similar to prisoners under police surveillance, KCR’s movements at the farmhouse are also closely monitored by law enforcement. Moreover, he noted the continued stream of political visitors to the farmhouse, mirroring the visitation rights afforded to inmates.
“The situation is quite similar,” Reddy stated. “just as in jail, police maintain a watchful eye, and visitors come to meet those inside. The same applies to KCR’s farmhouse.”
Defeating KCR: The Ultimate Punishment
However, reddy emphasized that his primary objective isn’t retribution. He declared that defeating KCR in the recent elections was his “biggest punishment” for the former chief minister. He firmly stated his administration will not engage in ”politics of hatred,” signaling a desire to move forward and focus on governance rather than dwelling on past political battles.”We are not going to pursue a path of animosity,” Reddy affirmed. “Our focus is on serving the people of telangana.”
confidence in Public Support & Upcoming Elections
Expressing strong confidence in his government’s mandate, Reddy stated, “Even if we cover ourselves with a blanket and sleep, the people will bring us to power.” This statement underscores his belief in the enduring support of the Telangana electorate.
Looking ahead, reddy also speculated about the timing of a potential by-election in the Jubilee Hills assembly constituency, suggesting it could coincide with the upcoming Assembly elections in Bihar.
dismissing BRS Claims of ‘Moral Victory’
The Chief Minister was rapid to dismiss claims of a “moral victory” being touted by Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) leaders following the vacancy of the Jubilee Hills seat due to the passing of BRS MLA Maganti Gopinath.Reddy sharply criticized this assertion, stating that such claims were detrimental to the very concept of morality.
“BRS leaders speaking of a moral victory would drive morality to suicide,” he remarked, highlighting his disapproval of what he perceived as opportunistic political maneuvering.
