Hyderabad to Become Center of Excellence in Quantum Computing
Telangana aims to lead in quantum computing, announced IT and Industries Minister Duddilla Sridhar Babu. During an international conference on Artificial Intelligence in Healthcare, he discussed efforts to attract Silicon Valley companies to Hyderabad, which is known for its software and pharmaceutical innovations.
The Minister highlighted Hyderabad’s key role in the fourth industrial revolution. He mentioned that artificial intelligence (AI) is already benefiting radiology diagnostics. He called for further research to enhance its applications.
Sridhar Babu thanked industry leaders who contributed to making Hyderabad a global hub for health sciences. He noted that Hyderabad is recognized as the world’s vaccine capital. He praised Dr. Nageshwar Reddy for founding the Institute of Artificial Intelligence at AIG, which is a leader in global healthcare innovation.
He introduced “Mira,” an AI-powered virtual medical assistant at AIG, as a significant advancement in healthcare. The Minister pointed out the benefits of AI in hospital information management systems and assured support from the state government for AI in healthcare and industry.
Sridhar Babu reflected on Chief Minister Revanth Reddy’s call to create a roadmap for AI integration in healthcare. He announced plans for Young India Skill University to prepare skilled professionals for the workforce.
Additionally, he mentioned the development of AI City and the establishment of consortia for Global Capability Centers (GCC) and the Banking, Finance, and Insurance (BFSI) sectors. Starting from their second year, BCom and BBA students will receive specialized training for BFSI jobs, addressing a shortage of skilled professionals. He also revealed plans to upskill science and pharma students before graduation, ensuring they are ready for the industry.
