Telegram’s Pavel Durov to Divide Fortune Among 100+ Children
Pavel durov, the Russian-born billionaire and founder of the Telegram messaging app, plans to distribute his ample wealth among a large number of children. Durov revealed that he has fathered more than 100 children through sperm donation.
Durov told French magazine Le Point that a clinic informed him that over 100 babies were conceived using his sperm donations across 12 countries. He began donating 15 years ago to assist a friend.
In addition to the children conceived via sperm donation, Durov identifies as the “official father” of six children with three partners. He stated that his estimated $13.9 billion fortune will be shared by all his offspring.

Durov also addressed the criminal charges he faces in France. He was arrested in France last year, accused of failing to adequately moderate Telegram to curb criminal activity. These charges include allegations of insufficient cooperation with law enforcement regarding drug trafficking, child sexual abuse content, and fraud.
telegram has previously defended its moderation policies. Durov described the charges as “totally absurd” in the Le Point interview.
Durov emphasized his commitment to his children’s well-being. “They are all my children and will all have the same rights! I don’t want them to tear each other apart after my death,” Durov said.
Though, he stipulated that none of his children will have access to their inheritance for 30 years. Durov wants them “to live like normal people, to build themselves up alone, to learn to trust themselves, to be able to create, not to be dependent on a bank account.”
Durov, age 40, said he created a will due to the inherent risks of his position, stating that “defending freedoms earns you many enemies, including within powerful states.” His Telegram app boasts over a billion active monthly users and is known for its focus on privacy and encrypted messaging.
What’s next
The legal proceedings in France regarding Telegram’s moderation are ongoing. Durov’s plans for his estate will likely face scrutiny as he navigates these challenges.
