Temple Men’s Tennis: Florida Trip Results & Upcoming Match vs. Brown

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Temple University men’s tennis team experienced a mixed bag of results during its spring break trip to Florida, securing wins against North Carolina A&T and Saint Bonaventure but falling to Barry University. The Owls kicked off their Florida swing with a 4-1 victory over the Aggies on Monday, March 7th, before seeing a Tuesday match against Sacred Heart cancelled due to rain.

The trip concluded on Friday with a 6-1 loss to Barry, despite a strong showing from Oliver Aguilar, who secured a win in both singles and doubles play.

The match against North Carolina A&T saw Temple dominate in doubles play, with the pairings of Lance Cochran and Maj Najvirt Kolaric, and Alberto Blumenschein and Oliver Aguilar both securing victories. The duo of Pranav Nemani and Erden Er unfortunately fell to their opponents.

In singles competition against the Aggies, Aayush Bhat’s match was left unfinished, leading 6-2, 5-5. Jindric Brill defeated Maj Najvirt Kolaric 6-1, 6-4. Lance Cochran’s match against Illia Olefir was also unfinished, tied at 4-6, 5-5. Matteo Crespi delivered a win for Temple, defeating Niklas Laux 7-5, 6-3. Oliver Aguilar continued his strong performance, defeating Gabriel Linovic 6-2, 6-1, and Alberto Blumenschein rounded out the victories with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Mathieu Dussaubat.

The Owls then faced Saint Bonaventure, where they again demonstrated strength in doubles. Cochran and Najvirt Kolaric secured a 6-3 win, while Harshith Pennabadi and Matteo Crespi also claimed a victory with a 6-3 score. The pairing of Aayush Bhat and Alberto Blumenschein had an unfinished match, tied 4-4.

Temple continued its success in singles against Saint Bonaventure. Aayush Bhat defeated Connor Turner 6-2, 3-6, 10-8. Maj Najvirt Kolaric won against Davis Matney 6-3, 7-5. Lance Cochran defeated Chase Cahill-Welsh 6-2, 6-1. Matteo Crespi secured another win, defeating Alex Kim 6-4, 6-3. Oliver Aguilar continued his winning streak, defeating Dilraj Singh Dhillon 6-1, 6-0, and Harshith Pennabadi defeated Luke Ollivierre 6-1, 6-1.

The final match of the trip against Barry proved more challenging. Barry took the doubles point, with Simone Cavalleri and Riccardo Trione defeating Cochran and Najvirt Kolaric 6-2. Thomas Machado and Adam Lynch had an unfinished match against Pranav Nemani and Harshith Pennabadi, tied 5-2. Yan Kodjoed and Antomim Chapuis defeated Aayush Bhat and Alberto Blumenschein 6-2.

In singles play against Barry, Yan Kodjoed defeated Aayush Bhat 6-3, 6-3. Thomas Machado defeated Maj Najvirt Kolaric 6-1, 6-1. Adam Lynch defeated Lance Cochran 6-4, 6-2. Antomim Chapuis defeated Matteo Crespi 6-2, 6-4. Oliver Aguilar managed to secure a win for Temple, defeating Cooper Dillon 7-6 (12), 7-6 (7). Elie Azoulary defeated Alberto Blumenschein 7-5, 6-1.

The Temple Owls will return to competition on Friday, March 13th, when they travel to Providence, Rhode Island, to face the Brown Bears.
