Changhua, Taiwan – In a heartwarming display of community spirit, Fo Guang Shan Fushan Temple recently shared 1,600 servings of “Laba Porridge” with the Changhua County government. this generous act, timed to coincide with the Dharma treasure Festival, aims to spread hope and foster a “circle of kindness” within the community.
The Dharma Treasure Festival commemorates the day Shakyamuni Buddha attained enlightenment, a meaningful event in Buddhism. Abbot Master Miaou of Fushan Temple emphasized the profound meaning behind sharing “Laba Porridge,” stating that it symbolizes gratitude towards parents, society, and the Buddha.
“This tradition promotes love, encourages good deeds, and ultimately contributes to a brighter society,” Master Miaou said.
County Magistrate Wang Huimei expressed his gratitude to the temple for its ongoing commitment to social welfare. He praised the “Laba Porridge” initiative as a way to bring joy and warmth to county employees.
“May you move forward with courage throughout the year,face and solve problems bravely when you face them,and may you have good fortune,peace,and success in your new life,” Magistrate Wang Huimei said,echoing the temple’s message of hope and positivity.
