A Life Rooted in Family and Community
Born to Martin and Kate Woods, Terry was a beloved brother to Paddy, matt, and Bridget, all of whom predeceased him. His early life instilled in him the values of family, hard work, and community – principles he carried with him throughout his years. While details of his early life remain a personal family treasure, it’s clear these formative experiences shaped the man he became: a pillar of support and a source of unwavering love for those around him.
his journey led him to London for a period, where he undoubtedly broadened his horizons and forged lasting connections. Though, it was his return to ireland and settling in Castlebar that truly defined a critically important chapter of his life.
A loving Husband, Father, and Grandfather
Terry’s greatest joy was his family. He was a devoted husband to Mary Woods (née Corrigan), a partnership built on love, respect, and shared life experiences. Together, they created a warm and nurturing home, raising five children - Martin, Terry, Kevin, Stephen, and Mary Ann – who remember their father with immense affection.
His role as a father extended to being a cherished father-in-law to Lorna, Joan, Lisa, and Geraldine, and a proud son-in-law to Padraic. But perhaps his most treasured role was that of Grandad to his twelve grandchildren. He embraced this role with open arms, showering them with love, wisdom, and countless happy memories. The legacy of his kindness and gentle spirit will undoubtedly live on through them.
A Heartfelt Farewell and Funeral Arrangements
Terry’s passing has understandably brought immense grief to his sister, Mary Rooney, and his brothers-in-law, Padraic and Marty, along with his numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and a wide circle of friends. He will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Funeral arrangements are as follows:
Reposing: Coady’s Funeral Home, Castlebar (F23 XY63) on Friday, July 11th, from 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM.
Removal: From Coady’s Funeral Home to the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar, arriving at 7:30 PM on Friday, July 11th.
Funeral Mass: Saturday, July 12th, at 11:30 AM in the Church of the Holy Rosary, Castlebar.
Burial: following the Funeral Mass, Terry will be laid to rest in doohoma Cemetery.
