Texas A&M Women’s Basketball Tournament Preview
The Texas A&M women’s basketball team will play Villanova in the first round of the Battle 4 Atlantis tournament on Saturday at 8 p.m. The game will take place at the Imperial Arena, Atlantis Paradise Island, Bahamas.
Recent Performance
Texas A&M comes into the game with a record of 3-2, following a strong 75-54 victory over Northwestern State on November 17. Jada Malone led the team with a career-high 24 points, shooting 10-of-13 from the field, along with nine rebounds, four steals, and three blocks. This marks the second time this season that she has topped the scoring chart while coming off the bench.
Defensive Strength
The Aggies boast a strong defense, ranking No. 7 in the nation for blocks per game (6.8). Lauren Ware and Aicha Coulibaly lead the team, each averaging 1.8 blocks per game. In all three of A&M’s victories this season, they have kept opponents shooting below 35%.
Tournament Structure
The Battle 4 Atlantis features teams such as Ball State, Baylor, Columbia, Indiana, North Carolina, Southern Miss, and Villanova. If the Aggies win against Villanova, they will face either No. 16 North Carolina or Ball State on Sunday. The schedule for the final game on Monday will be determined based on the outcomes of the previous contests.
