One year after watching their rivals celebrate, the Texas Longhorns secured their first national championship in
softball, defeating Texas Tech 10-4 in the Women’s College World Series. The victory at Devon Park in Oklahoma
city marked a meaningful turnaround for a program that had faced repeated heartbreak.
Following a sweep by Oklahoma in the 2022 championship series and another loss to the Sooners in 2024, senior
pitcher Estelle Czech challenged her teammates to “go win it all next year.” This fueled a season of
transformation, marked by a new team motto, “fuel the fire,” and a renewed focus on mental toughness and
togetherness. Despite a mid-season slump, the longhorns found their stride in time for the WCWS, showcasing
their resilience and determination.
