Texas Volleyball Sweeps Alabama
No. 14 Texas Volleyball defeated Alabama with scores of 25-16, 25-23, and 25-15 on Sunday. The match took place in front of a record crowd of 3,800 at Foster Auditorium. Texas did not lose a set during its trip to Alabama, also setting attendance records at Auburn.
The Longhorns, now 15-6 overall and 10-3 in conference play, hit .357 during the match, recorded 10 total blocks, and achieved six service aces. In contrast, Alabama struggled with a hitting percentage of .150.
Madisen Skinner led Texas with 14 kills and 10 digs, marking her sixth double-double of the season at a hitting percentage of .314. Jenna Wenaas contributed 10 kills and 10 digs, achieving her fourth double-double this season. She excelled in the third set, contributing five kills, four digs, and two blocks.
Ayden Ames also had a strong performance, notching eight kills, four blocks, and a hitting percentage of .571. Averi Carlson set up the offense with 35 assists, along with three digs and two blocks.
The first set began with a close score, but Texas pulled ahead after a 5-0 run. They finished the set hitting .500, with Skinner and Ames leading in kills. The second set was competitive, but Texas won 25-23. They maintained a .324 hitting percentage while holding Alabama to .229. In the final set, Texas dominated, winning 25-15. Wenaas shone in this set with five kills and two blocks.
Texas will play its last regular-season road match against Oklahoma on Friday, Nov. 22, at 6 p.m.
