Thai National Futsal Team Advances to Next Round Despite Loss to Brazil
The Thai national futsal team secured a spot in the next round of the 2024 Futsal World Cup, finishing second in Group B with 6 points. Their advancement comes after a 1-9 loss to the Brazilian national team in their third match of the first round on September 20.
Thailand’s national futsal coach, Miguel Rodrigo, reflected on the match, saying, “It’s a game like boxing with different weights. We were only able to resist for 20 minutes, there was no doubt about this game. Our players fight hard. I saw everyone’s fighting spirit and today Brazil played very well.”
Rodrigo emphasized the value of the match as a learning experience, stating, “This is a good game where we will learn a lot. I don’t make any excuses. We tested the team playing under pressure. and many members of the team came and said I have never seen play at this level before, so fast, aggressive and effective.”
Regarding the score, Rodrigo acknowledged, “No one wants to be shot this much. But we played our best to stop it. We played the power play to stop the scoring flow. Also, their goalkeeper made a good save too. But we fought as hard as we could.”
The coach also praised the historic goal scored by Muhammad Usman Musa, saying, “The goals scored by Muhammad Usman Musa are historic in themselves. It should give him more confidence for the next round.”

Muhammad Usman Musa, the striker who scored a goal in the match, expressed his thoughts on the game, saying, “I’m glad I scored a goal, but we met Brazil – it was a very difficult match. Everyone in the team had talked about it, no matter what the score was. We will play to get the most out of this game.”
Usman Musa emphasized the team’s focus on learning from the match, stating, “We are not worried about the score today. But we worry about what kind of goals we have given up. We will learn from this game. There is only profit in this game, there is only profit. We will use this game to learn.”
