The case became public after Chalida “Ton Or” Phalamat, founder of the Be One Foundation, posted details on Facebook on September 21. She sought the arrest of the suspect, who remained at large at the time of reporting, according to coverage from Stomp.
Alone in the House
Statements from the victim’s grandparents, provided to foundation representatives, show the family resides in Chanphen subdistrict, Tao Ngoi district, Sakon Nakhon province.
The girl was left alone at the home while her grandparents went to work in the provincial city center. During that time, her 31-year-old biological uncle, identified as Wee, climbed through a window into her second-story bedroom.
Wee reportedly strangled the girl and attempted to sexually assault her. The teenager fought back against the attacker and managed to break away, then jumped from the second-floor window in an attempt to escape, according to details shared by Be One Foundation.
Neighbors Rush to the Scene
The fall resulted in serious injuries that left the girl unable to continue running. The suspect reportedly followed her outside and attempted to assault her a second time.
Neighbors heard the girl screaming and rushed to her aid, prompting the suspect to flee the scene, according to local reports.
Emergency responders transported the injured teenager to a hospital. Medical staff determined that she sustained a toe fracture and a vertebral fracture, leaving her in critical condition.
Police Defend Investigation Timeline
Tao Ngoi Police Station superintendent Jeerawat Photina responded to public criticism by denying claims that local police had ignored the case or allowed the suspect to remain free.
According to Jeerawat, police officers began investigating immediately after receiving a formal complaint from the girl’s grandparents.
Investigators noted that the suspect had previously been arrested four times in connection with drug-related offenses. Police officials also stated that the suspect had a history of mental health issues and aggressive behavior linked to substance use.
Explaining why an immediate arrest was not made following the initial complaint, police stated that officers and specialists needed time to properly interview the minor victim and secure an arrest warrant through the court system.
Authorities estimated the legal process would take several days and appealed to the public for any information regarding the suspect’s whereabouts as the investigation remains active.
