thailand Women’s Football Team Focuses on Development After ASEAN Championship

Bangkok,⁢ Thailand ‍- August 20, 2025 – The Thai ⁤women’s national football team returned to Thailand today after completing their mission‌ at the ASEAN Women’s Msig Serenity Cup 2025 in Vietnam, finishing in fourth ‌place. While the result wasn’t ideal, head coach Futoshi Ikeda emphasized the valuable experience gained‌ by ⁢the team and a firm commitment to player ‌development.

Speaking upon arrival‍ at Don Mueang Airport, Ikeda⁣ acknowledged‌ the disappointment of not reaching the podium but highlighted the importance of⁣ the‍ tournament as a learning prospect. The team was hampered by the tournament falling outside ‍of the FIFA international window, preventing the inclusion‌ of‍ players currently competing⁣ in ⁢foreign leagues and those involved in the BGC Bachelor’s degree program. This necessitated relying⁤ on a squad of younger players.

“The obvious thing‌ is that players have experience from meeting many ⁢competitors, especially Vietnam, the host who has⁤ football fans full of fields. Including adjusting the tactics to suit each⁢ game. These are crucial progress,” ikeda stated.

Looking ahead, the focus will ‌shift to preparation for the 2025 SEA Games, hosted in Thailand from December 7-19.Ikeda plans to dedicate ‍the next three months to intensive‌ skills and fitness training. ‌ He also intends to utilize upcoming FIFA international windows to schedule warm-up matches and further refine the team’s ‍performance.

the Thai national football team will continue to meet and plan during FIFA‍ Days to ensure⁣ they are fully prepared for the challenges of the SEA Games women’s football competition. ⁤ This period will be crucial in building upon the experience gained in Vietnam and solidifying a competitive squad for the home tournament.
