Thailand Meets Korea: Chungbuk Province Forges Unbreakable Ties with the Economic Powerhouse of Thailand
– Chungcheongbuk-do Province and Bangkok, Thailand sign a letter of intent for friendly exchanges –
[충북 세계타임즈=이현진 기자] Chungcheongbuk-do announced on the 25th that it signed a letter of intent for friendly exchanges with Bangkok, Thailand in Bangkok. This signing is expected to be an important milestone that deepens exchanges between Chungcheongbuk-do and Bangkok and opens a new era of cooperation.
The beginning of this exchange was the 18th International Conference on Crisis Management (ICCEM) held in Osong, Chungcheongbuk-do in July of last year. Governor Kim Young-hwan expressed his intention for exchange and cooperation during lunch with Bangkok Deputy Mayor Tabitha Kamolvez, who attended the conference. Through this meeting, exchanges between the two cities progressed rapidly, and the signing of this letter of intent has borne fruit.
The signing ceremony held at Bangkok City Hall was attended by Governor Kim Young-hwan and Bangkok Mayor Chatchat Sithippan. The two leaders agreed to cooperate in various fields including culture and tourism, renewable energy, education, wellness, medicine, science and technology.
Governor Kim emphasized that this agreement will serve as an opportunity to strengthen the foundation of cooperation between Chungcheongbuk-do and Bangkok and open a new chapter in global cooperation, saying, “I hope that by sharing each other’s experiences and knowledge, we can further deepen the exchanges between the two cities.”
In addition, he stated that “the signing of this agreement will solidify the foundation for cooperation between Chungcheongbuk-do and Bangkok City and serve as an opportunity to elevate Chungcheongbuk-do’s status on the international stage,” and that he will continue active diplomatic activities in the future.
The Chatchat market showed deep interest in Governor Kim’s proposal, and Bangkok City responded that it values international cooperation with leading regions around the world and is ready to actively participate in cooperation with Chungcheongbuk-do Province.
He said, “Bangkok is a world-class trade and logistics hub as the center of the Baht economic zone, and is also receiving international attention for its rich cultural resources, tourism industry, and advanced renewable energy and technology sectors.” He added, “Bangkok’s location and resources will be of great help in creating mutual benefits through cooperation with Chungcheongbuk-do.”
Meanwhile, Chungcheongbuk-do Province signed an MOU with the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB), Thailand Incentives and Conventions Association (TICA), and Chungbuk Cultural Foundation on the afternoon of the same day to promote cooperation in the MICE (meetings, incentives, conventions, and exhibitions) sector. The MOU includes various cooperation measures such as exchange of related information and publications, joint hosting of events, exchange of speakers, and capacity building of public officials.
Through this MOU, Chungbuk and Thailand plan to strengthen mutual development and cooperation in the MICE sector and build a more effective partnership based on this.
